There was a break in on Tuesday night between the hours of 7-10pm on a quiet street in St. Augustine, Trinidad.
There were no eye witnesses but the owners are certain that the intruder was a cat from the trail of crumbs and mess it left behind. The crime scene was too dirty for the skillful rat.
The alleged burglar made off with the last slice of Easter cake that was on the table and ravaged the home made bread.
It is believed to have gained entry by slipping through the wrought iron gate at the side of the house. The two dogs on duty, Thor and Winter, were unable to give witness statements as they slept through the ordeal.
Detective Sergeant Coach Bengo is investigating to establish the circumstances. He sent out an alert to his team "New pest... A cat... Raided the kitchen table." When questioned he said
"I told Sands to put the food away in the cupboard, but no one listens to me." All attempts to contact Sands for her statement were unsuccessful.
